Melwood TRANSPORTATION VAN AIDE in Upper Marlboro, Maryland
This position is located in Upper Marlboro, MD.
The core working hours are 6am to 9am-2:30pm-5:30pm, Monday through Friday.
The hourly wage is $11.50 per hour.
This is a non-exempt position.
Employees are eligible for overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 hours in a standard workweek should it be necessary. Transportation Van Aide The goal of the Transportation Van Aide position is to provide safe, efficient, and timely transportation support to individuals served in the Community Services Division program while being transported on Melwood vans.
Ensure compliance with DDA, CARF and other relevant policies and procedures, rules and regulations as they pertain to Melwood and the Community Services Division.
Ensure a safe environment exists for the assigned individual served while being transported.
Inform management staff and other interdisciplinary team members on behavioral and programmatic issues that occur. Implement behavioral procedures/plans as necessary during transport.
Provide services as outlined in Individual Plans – ensuring goals are developed, implemented, and progress benchmarks are being met.
Demonstrate positive behavioral management techniques and communicates with individuals in a person-centered, age appropriate manner.
Complete progress notes, daily logs, time sheets, individual planning activities and other documentation thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
Facilitate individual’s self-esteem through positive interactions and building a relationship of trust.
Report any incident involving the assigned individual served to the appropriate transportation staff, Quality Assurance staff and the Administrative Assistant for incident reporting purposes.
Must be able to sit and/or drive 90% of work time; stand/walk 10%. Must be able to lift or carry 40 pounds; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach. Must possess good hearing and vision, as the incumbent in this position may be required to drive. All of these requirements are necessary in order to properly perform the duties of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma and three (3) years’ experience in the transportation field required. Must possess a minimum of two years’ experience driving a passenger vehicle. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to be a team player and responds to crisis in a calm and productive manner.
Must be able to communicate with staff, individuals served, and caregivers.
Must be dependable and punctual.
Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and be at least 21 years of age.
Must complete certifications and training in the following areas: all DDA related training's, NAPPI and BPS (as needed). Must comply with Melwood transportation & driving policies.
