Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Semiconductor Equipment Engineer for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman's ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman's ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems. Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly.

The Semiconductor Equipment Engineer will lead and manage engineering projects such as continuous improvement with an emphasis on tool uptime and availability, and vendor management of semiconductor equipment at Northrop Grumman's semiconductor foundry located outside Baltimore.

Responsibilities include equipment availability and continuous improvement efforts for existing semiconductor processing equipment. May be responsible for the running a group or groups of tools, from day-to-day operations up to and including service contracts with vendors. Minimal travel - one to three short trips per year. #NGATL

This requisition may be filled as a Principal Semiconductor Equipment Engineer or Senior Principal Semiconductor Equipment Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Semiconductor Equipment Engineer:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in a technical area with 5 years of relevant experience (3 years with a technical MS; or 0yrs with a PhD)

-Minimum of 5 years' experience working with semiconductor fabrication equipment

-Requires experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities and operation

-Experience with fab facility infrastructure, and maintenance

-Demonstrated ability to work with cross organizational teams such as engineering, line maintenance and building maintenance

-Must be a US citizen

-Must be able to obtain Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Semiconductor Equipment Engineer:

-Must have a Bachelor's degree in a technical area with 9 years of relevant experience (7 years with a technical MS; or 4yrs with a PhD)

-Minimum of 5 years' experience working with semiconductor fabrication equipment

-Requires experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities and operation

-Experience with fab facility infrastructure, and maintenance.

-Demonstrated ability to work with cross organizational teams such as engineering, line maintenance and building maintenance

-Must be a US citizen

-Must be able to obtain Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience with Semiconductor Production Equipment

-Experience with equipment installation and tool startup a plus

-Proven track record managing strategic projects from inception through completion; including financial, risk and schedule management

-Demonstrated background in structured problem solving and RCCA methods

-Experience interfacing with vendors for equipment repairs, service contracts, and purchase preferred

-Experience with SQL a plus

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600

Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
