Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking candidates for the position of Systems Engineering Manager 2 in the Microelectronics Device Applications Business Area (MDA BA) within the Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center.

This position is in Linthicum/ Baltimore/ Annapolis Junction, M D. This is a dual-role manag ement position, which involves the balance of the functional oversight and management for a system engineering section of 10-15 engineers and providing productive technical contributions to supported programs . A successful candidate will split their time at approximately 20% in the support of functional organization tasks and objectives; together with 80% of their time going towards technical program tasks.

The functional management activities include organizational administrative actions, employee performance management and career development through guidance and training . Direct program work may include filling program needs as a technical leader in the areas of systems engineering, IPT leadership, consulting, proposal support, or any other appropriate technical functions as an experienced engineer.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Execute in a direct contributor capacity by supporting program technical needs in areas of requirements definition, modeling & analysis, architectural design, development & implementation, system integration, verification and validation and maintenance and sustainment .

  • Functional administrative management activities will include technical assignments for team members, workload planning, career guidance, performance management, salary planning and policy dissemination.

  • Work with program management and technical leads to capture staffing needs.

  • Work with Talent Acquisition, technical staff, and functional management to screen candidates, set up interviews, collect feedback, and assist in determining whether to make offers .

This position requires work onsite in either Linthicum, MD or Annapolis Junction, MD facilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum 9 years of related engineering experience including responsibility as an integrated product team or technical lead or 7 years with a Master's degree.

  • Established proficiency in individual mentorship thru effective feedback, talent development, motivation, and engagement.

  • Team leadership involvement in process improvement, conflict resolution, building consensus and discission making.

  • Demonstrated experience with Systems Engineering process .

  • Demonstrated Backlog Planning and Management .

  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering, Business Management, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent.

  • 12 years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment.

  • Demonstrated Experience with Systems Development Lifecycle, Focus on SRR to CDR .

  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering processing from generation of an Integrated Master Plan (IMP) to Work Product Breakdown into Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for the development of complex systems of systems.

Salary Range: $145,000 - $217,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
