KBR is seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer familiar with DoD aircraft systems and/or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods. This candidate will provide direct support to Naval Aviation NAVAIR/NAWCAD engineering division and translate requirements into acquisition strategies. In this role, you will be working directly with our clients using model-based systems engineering to solve complex technical and business challenges. Functional Description:

  • Performs tasks with little or no guidance or leads the execution of complex tasks.

  • Has demonstrated knowledge in area of engineering expertise. Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan and design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military weapons systems.

  • Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.

  • Applies systems engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.

  • Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods to perform requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, detail trade studies, systems integration, and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of subsystem or system elements under supervision of the lead systems engineer.

  • Analyze existing and approved platform requirements documentation (Capabilities Development Document, System Requirements Document, etc.).

  • Use requirements analysis to create and maintain the Government Reference Architecture (GRA) and/or Enterprise Architecture Framework (WAF) in Cameo Enterprise Architecture or similar SysML tool.

  • Modify and update platform models on a regular basis to reflect DoD acquisition strategies, specific technical sub-categories, and define basic mission activities and modeling.

  • Produce and deliver MBSE models as supplements to numerous Program acquisition documents including the Acquisition Strategy Plan, Statement of Work, Systems Engineering Plan, Test and Evaluation Master Plan, and others as needed.

  • Develop system CONOPS, architecture, and interface definitions of complex systems in an MBSE environment.

  • Supports effective transition of existing systems engineering and technical data packages (TDPs) from traditional document-based processes to reusable model-based artifacts.

  • Support management of models and derived work products consistent with project configuration and data management processes and standards.

  • Conduct walkthroughs and formal reviews of system requirements and architecture models developed using SysML and MBSE processes.

  • Perform detailed technical analyses for a subsystem or system elements.

  • Collaborate with systems engineering leads as well as domain and discipline subject matter experts (SMEs) to tailor MBSE to project scope and cost and schedule constraints.

  • Translate processes from traditional document-based system engineering efforts to delivery of model-based work products to customers.

  • Train others on MBSE concepts and tools

Basic Qualifications:

Education:

  • Position requires a technical or scientist MS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline.

Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years Systems Engineering experience with Model-Based Engineering/Digital Engineering applications and technology.

  • Experience using MBSE Tools, such as Cameo System Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect, Teamwork Cloud, and Cameo Collaborator. Experience using MBSE Tools, such as Cameo System Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect, Teamwork Cloud, and Cameo Collaborator.

  • DoD Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain a Secret or to gain a Top Secret/SCI.

Allowable Substitution:

  • A Technical or Science Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) years of additional work experience related to the applicable labor category may be substituted for a Master’s degree.

  • Technical or Science Bachelor’s degree related scientific discipline in the following technical area’s: Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a Aerospace, Chemical/Process, Civil, Communications/Telecommunications, Computer, Cybersecurity, Electrical, Electromechanical, Engineering management, Engineering mechanics, Engineering technology, Industrial, Information engineering, General, Human Factors Engineering, Environmental, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials, Mechanical, Naval Architecture and Marine, Nuclear and Radiological, Software, System.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • DoD Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain a Secret or to gain a Top Secret/SCI

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Understanding of Naval Aviation Digital Transformation guidance and initiatives.

  • Experience with Cameo System Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect.

  • Experience applying SysML-based MBSE methods, tools, and frameworks to develop rigorous specifications and models of commercial and/or DoD systems/components.

Contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
