KBR's Defense Systems Engineering, Naval Solutions Division, is seeking a Data Scientist to support various programs. In this role, you will support government customers within the Department of Defense (DoD) on various projects to develop solutions incorporating technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence (ML/AI), robotic process automation (RPA), and cloud infrastructure. You will be part of a diverse team of developers, data scientists, and technology experts to solve complex problems. Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.
Responsibilities:
Under broad direction, collects and analyzes statistics and information from multiple sources to identify trends in order to gain maximum insight that can give the company a competitive advantage
Applies and integrates statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling and business analysis skills to manage and manipulate complex high volume data from a variety of sources. Creates new data collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data; may determine appropriate methods to creatively explore mine, analyze, and manipulate extremely massive data sets.
Develops and analyzes modeling and measuring techniques using inquisitive creativity along with mathematics, machine learning, and statistical/ engineering methods to discover many possible solutions to a given problem.
Creates user-friendly reports using various databases and systems. May lead or supervise less experienced staff and support members.
Often recognized and called upon as an authoritative technical specialist to make decisions and recommendations with significant impact on the organization with regard to data science activities. May participate in negotiations with colleagues and managers to determine priorities, set objectives, or develop strategies pertaining to data sciences.
Basic Qualifications:
Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance.Education: Ph.D. preferred. Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Discipline such as Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, etc.
Experience: 10 years of relevant experience.

Programming: Python, R, MATLAB, SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite), Bash, Julia, Java, HTML/CSS, LaTeX
Data Analysis: NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Joblib, fmincon, dplyr, tidyverse, Qualtrics, Excel, ImageJ
ML Frameworks & Statistics: PyTorch, Spark ML, statsmodels, regression, clustering, hypothesis testing
HPC & Cloud: AWS, Slurm, Sun Grid Engine (SGE), RStudio Server, Shiny Server, JupyterHub
Data Visualization: Matplotlib, Plotly, Seaborn, Dash, ggplot2, Shiny, Tableau, Sphinx, GIMP, Illustrator
DevOps: Git, GitLab, GitHub, BitBucket, Splunk, Jira, Confluence, Puppet, Slack
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in a Technical Discipline such as Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, etc.
Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration/teams.
Experience conducting research and developing transformative insights to includes published findings.
