Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a Research Assistant who will work under the supervision of Adrianna Moore and Kathleen Page, MD. We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual to assist with multiple NIH-funded studies, PCORI, and Maryland Department of Health-funded programs aimed at improving services for underserved populations in Maryland. She/he will work in collaboration with the Latino Outreach team and Covid-19 Response Strategy led by Dr. Kathleen Page, as well as with multi-PI grants on HIV among African Americans and Latinos. She/he will assist with community events, including COVID-19 vaccination, testing mental health outreach, and research grants. Specific duties include planning all logistics and staffing events, data collection (surveys and qualitative research), quality assurance of protocol implementation, and coordination with appropriate staff.

This role provides excellent customer service and contributes to overall community engagement strategy development. She/he will be culturally aware, have a high level of emotional intelligence, and be highly organized. She/he will demonstrate excellent judgment in handling sensitive situations and be entrusted to build and sustain trust with the communities served. She/he works independently with a high degree of organization and dependability. This role provides opportunities for qualitative data analysis, literature review, and writing scientific manuscripts according to project requirements.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists the team with participant recruitment and enrollment, literature searches, distributing home-based COVID-19 testing kits, implementing community interventions (mental health, HIV testing, and vaccination), and assisting with data collection.

  • Plans and staff weekly COVID-19 events for testing, vaccination, and other related educational activities.

  • Responsible for staffing and daily administrative operations including supplies, orientation, etc.

  • Conducts research surveys by phone and at key community sites in Maryland.

  • Serves as a resource for clinicians and community partners about protocol requirements.

  • Participates in study meetings and provides updates on protocol implementation status and makes recommendations on operational issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  • Spanish-English bilingual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Life/community/work experience or knowledge regarding the Latino Community and infectious diseases (HIV and COVID-19) preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY ($48,880 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
