Johns Hopkins University Laboratory Technician in Baltimore, Maryland
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to work under the general supervision of a faculty investigator or laboratory supervisor. The role requires working knowledge of applicable laboratory procedures, tests, techniques and terminology. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to: conducting experiments, collecting, summarizing and reporting data.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Learn and implement standard DNA and RNA biochemistry techniques, including DNA/RNA purification, nucleic acid concentration measures, PCR.
Make DNA and RNA shotgun and amplicon libraries.
Learn and implement standard protein biochemistry techniques, such as protein purification, protein concentration measures, Western blot, IHC.
Perform in vitro (cell culture) laboratory experiments as well as collect tissue samples following established procedures or protocols under supervision.
Operate requisite laboratory equipment and instruments.
Maintain accurate and detailed up-to-date documentation of methods and results in laboratory notebook.
Present data summaries, perform literature searches and prepare presentation in support of existing and upcoming projects as well as manuscript preparation.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or graduation equivalent with some science coursework.
Certificate from technical institute or internship experience preferred.
Training Certificate from Technical Institute preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have basic command line scripting experience preferably in the microbiome analysis field.

Starting Salary Range: $15.25 - $23.00 HRLY ($18.00 HRLY targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: M-F; up to 35hours per week
