St Luke's Youth Center (SLYC) Groundskeeper in Baltimore, Maryland

St Luke's Campus (217 N. Carey St, 222 N Carrollton Ave., and adjacent vacant lots) Job Type: Part-Time/ 6hrs a week for set activities. All other activities are by contract as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Grounds Maintenance: Cutting, trimming, landscaping, mowing, edging, and general upkeep of the campus grounds.
  • Trash Management: Handle indoor and outdoor trash cleanup, and manage trash cans for Thursday pickups.
  • Emergency Response: On-call for issues such as break-ins and emergencies.
  • Handyman Tasks: Perform minor carpentry, construction, and repairs.
  • Building Maintenance: Check and clean up water in buildings post-rain, keep drains clear, and maintain entrances.
  • Cleaning and Upkeep: Sweep, mop, wash surfaces, empty trash, and clean bathrooms.
  • Supply Management: Manage and request maintenance supplies.
  • Property Improvement Projects: Discuss long-term improvements with the Property Manager.
  • Contractor Coordination:Open up and help supervise external contractors working on the grounds.
  • Facility Monitoring: Monitor and report to the Property Manager, mechanical systems, water leaks, and other issues.
  • Security: Secure property by locking/unlocking facilities and making sure no break-ins.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hands-on skills in basic carpentry and building maintenance.
  • Ability to detect building issues.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle emergencies.

Some basic supplies and equipment are provided

Compensation and Terms of Employment:

  • Part-time, 6hours per week.
  • Schedule set with Property Manager and Executive Director.
  • $16per hour starting wage.
  • "Employee at will" position.
