My client is hiring for an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller in BALTIMORE, Maryland, United States. The role is in the financial services industry and will focus on establishing and maintaining accounting systems, internal control processes, and month end close. The position offers fantastic compensation, benefits and office and team culture. Responsibilities:

• Oversee full cycle accounting for multiple investment funds.

• Supervise a small staff, reviewing their work products and helping to mentor and develop them.

• You will work hand in hand with the financial reporting team, investment team and asset management.

• Own the data, the general ledger and all accounting records are yours to oversee, and process improve.

• Participate in ad hoc special projects as assigned.

• Design and assist with internal controls and preparation and maintenance of internal control documentation.

• Work with the controller with both outside legal counsel and independent auditors.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with at least 3 in a supervisory capacity.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.

• Previous experience with a national Public Accounting Firm is desirable.

• Experience in Month End Close processes.

• Strong accounting system and Excel skills

• Advanced understanding of internal control and ability to improve the control environment.
