Amentum Systems Administrator in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland
Amentum is currently seeking a Systems Administrator to work alongside a high functioning and dedicated team of professionals to maintain an IT laboratory environment supporting multiple regular users and frequent visiting users. While the primary role is that of a Systems Administrator, this position will involve a variety of duties and tasks as necessary to support the mission.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day technical support of physical servers, storage servers, virtual servers and clients (laptops) and various MILSPEC hardware.
Deploy, manage, and maintain a VMWare virtual environment to include ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines.
Install / upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation, patch systems, and maintain security policies.
Provide technical support to lab staff and testing community when required.
Use critical thinking to solve system administration issues and support network functionality alongside Network Engineers.
Ensure systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
Maintain systems configuration and manage the installation and integration of system fixes, upgrades, and enhancements.
Resolve hardware and software interface and interoperability problems.
Manage accounts, network rights, access to systems, equipment and implement security procedures and tools.
Serve as liaison between facility users, vendors, security, and management to ensure smooth operations of laboratory tours and test activities.
Assist with coordinating year-round events and visits, including coordination, scheduling of incoming users, and onsite supervision of activities.
Assist in the accommodation of space and assets for testing.
Work with team to ensure laboratory is physically open/closed within given test support schedules and provides onsite support for test activities as needed.
Assist government personnel in the scheduling and task management for regular maintenance, new construction or installation of laboratory equipment and internal systems (e.g. cooling system, alarms, audio/visual systems, security equipment, etc).
Work with lab personnel to determine equipment, hardware, and software needs and advise the manager/leadership team on equipment upgrades, replacement, and repairs needed to meet lab technical requirements and/or revised security and IA requirements.
Ensure compliance with laboratory Cybersecurity, IA, and physical security standards and procedures for day-to-day lab activities.
Required Qualifications :
5+ years building, managing, and maintaining a VMware virtualization environment.
Working in a mixed operating system environment, primarily Windows.
Windows Active Directory and Domain Services design and implementation.
Familiarity with Information Assurance (IA) guidelines, best practices, and with IA products such as ACAS, SCAP, STIG benchmark, HBSS, etc.
Scripting experience (Bash, Powershell, Python, etc.) is a plus.
Minimum basic understanding of networking principles and configuration.
Must have an active US Government Secret Clearance. Please note that US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.
DoD8570.01-M approved baseline security certification e.g. Security+ (or ability to certify within 6 months of hire).
Computing Environment Certification e.g. Windows, Linux, VMware, etc. (or ability to certify within 6 months of hire).
Ability to work onsite 5 days a week.
