Jacobs Windows Desktop Technician - TS/SCI with Poly in Hanover, Maryland

Your Impact:

Jacobs is seeking a Windows Desktop Technician with an active TS/SCI with Poly to join their team in the Hanover, MD area. General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and maintenance of desktop hardware and software.

  • Create and maintain a hardened image for the desktop environment.

  • Documentation of observed issues and lifecycle improvements of hardware / software within the desktop architecture.

  • Network evaluation, hardware/software installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, repair, monitoring, tuning, automation scripting and general user support.

  • Designing, creating, and maintaining of desktops, agents, scans, and server-side interactions.

  • Duties will also include maintaining system documentation, developing infrastructure support procedures, and providing security support.

  • Provides technical support to internal and external personnel on highly complex network system installation processes.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Experience managing an imaging server for Microsoft Desktops

  • Experience capturing, deploying, and maintaining an image for Microsoft Desktops

  • Experience managing a WSUS or SCCM server

  • Build, maintain, troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory domain and Group Policy Objects.

  • Be able to install, configure, and maintain instances of Windows 10 and 11

  • Apply STIG settings via local settings and set network enforcement for Microsoft products

  • Be able to configure and troubleshoot Microsoft OSes with the registry, LGPO, and Domain GPOs

  • In depth experience with Microsoft command line and PowerShell

  • Experience maintaining Microsoft Remote Access Server or Microsoft Desktops inside a VDI

  • Be able to read and understand RSOP

  • Be able to read and understand Nessus reports

  • Strong desire to learn new tools and technologies on a small team

  • Exposure to vCenter and able to manage a VM within a VMWare environment

  • Create and maintain Active Directory objects, DNS records, and IP reservations

  • Plan, test, and implement software updates while understanding upstream and downstream effects of the update

  • Be able to remotely manage systems with minimal user impact

Clearance Required:

  • TS/SCI with Poly

Minimum Education/Minimum Years of Experience:

  • Computer Science oriented Associate degree or higher OR Two (2) years of networking-related experience is required.

  • Cisco certified Entry Network Technician (CCNET) or Network certification preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of packet flow is required.

  • In depth knowledge of distributed networking, clustering, shared storage, and linked clones is required.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing a backup server and policies

  • Ability to perform basic tasks within vCenter; create new VMs, change VM settings, migrate VMs

  • Ability to create and manage Horizon View images

  • Be able write and understand basic scripts (in Powershell, BATCH, Python, VBS, or something similar)

  • Experience with Docker containers, WSL, and securing them

  • Experience with HP thin clients and HPDM server

  • Experience configuring and managing of Windows Unified Write Filter

  • Possess the ability to explain complex abstraction layer designs and troubleshooting steps.

  • Experience installing and configuring of the Dell servers that ESXi will be installed on.

  • Basic knowledge of or experience with the hardware layer and how it interacts with the software layer directly (example the Dell server the host sits on or the Cisco switch the NIC connects to).

  • Experience with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.).

  • Proven ability to work independently while being conscious of how your work interacts with that of others.

  • Possess drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected.

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; analytical problem-solving skills; adept at root-cause analysis and mitigation.

  • Effective communication, writing, documentation, and requirements gatherings skills are needed to be effective in this role for working with other members of the Team and with the Customer to meet the requirements of the program.

  • Microsoft certification is desired but not required.
